“Million-strong Recall: Honda Issues Alert for Potential Fuel Pump Danger
Honda recently announced that it is recalling over 2.5 million cars and SUVs due to a potential fuel pump issue. The company believes the problem is due to “increased frequency of friction and wear experienced in the pumps due to prolonged use”, which could lead to loss of engine power or possible stalling. The recall affects a variety of Honda models, including the Civic, Accord, CRV, Pilot, MDX, Odyssey, and Ridgeline.
The issue was first reported in October of 2019 and Honda has been working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to investigate the potential issue since then. In order to remedy the problem, Honda is offering free replacement fuel pumps at authorized dealers. Honda encourages those driving affected vehicles to take their car to the dealership immediately if they experience difficulty starting the engine, stalling, or check engine lights. Honda has reported that there have been no reported crashes or injuries related to the issue.
This recall is yet another example of Honda’s commitment to driver safety and quality. Honda’s responsiveness to this potential issue highlights the company’s dedication to protecting its customers and preventing costly and dangerous vehicle problems. Honda will continue to work with the NHTSA to fully address this issue and ensure it does not recur in the future.
