Discover Who’s On the Witness Stand in Sam Bankman-Fried’s Fraud Trial!

The fraud trial for Sam Bankman-Fried, the CEO of the cryptocurrency trading platform Alameda Research, is quickly heating up. While the trial won’t begin until early 2021, the question of who will be called to testify is already in the air. From traders to regulators, it seems there are a variety of people who may be tapped to provide their perspectives on the events surrounding the accusations of fraud against Bankman-Fried. One of the most likely candidates, if called to testify, is Nathaniel Popper, the New York Times journalist who first reported about the situation. He has direct knowledge of what Bankman-Fried allegedly did, and should be able to provide important context to the trial. The former acting head of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Brian Quintenz, is also likely to be called to the stand. Since the CFTC was the agency that ultimately charged Bankman-Fried with fraud, his testimony could provide crucial insight into how the investigation was conducted and the agency’s decision-making process. Other likely witnesses include employees from Alameda Research and competitors in the trading industry. Employees of Alameda Research could reveal further details about the company’s operations, while representatives from competing trading platforms might be able to provide their own perspectives on the signals Bankman-Fried might have sent out to the market as a whole. Of course, many of these people will ultimately depend on the outcome of the trial, as the decision as to who will testify is ultimately up to the judge. Nonetheless, these are the most likely possibilities for testimony in the upcoming Bankman-Fried fraud trial.
