“11,143 Hecatares of Opportunity: CanAlaska’s Constellation Project in the Eastern Athabasca Basin
CanAlaska Stakes 11,143 Hectare Constellation Project in Eastern Athabasca Basin
CanAlaska Uranium Ltd., a Canadian-based resource company, recently staked 11,143 hectares across the Eastern Athabasca Basin for its Constellation Project. The project is set to become one of the world’s largest exploration projects of its kind.
The district-scale project spans across several favourable geological environments including the prolific Western Athabasca Basin. The area is surrounded by previous uranium discoveries such asAREVA’s McArthur River Mine and Cameco’s Cigar Lake Mine. The newly explored land is also located in close proximity to Cameco’s Patterson Lake South Project.
The raw land stakes could give CanAlaska a major leg up in their exploration of the area. Peter Dasler, President and Exploration Manager of CanAlaska, stated “Our current and ongoing exploration of this important new uranium district is providing important and exciting new data. Through this working knowledge we are confident of our ability to identify and secure attractive resources within the project.”
CanAlaska intends to explore the project with airborne and ground-based geophysical surveys, followed by prospecting and mapping. CanAlaska will use historical exploration data and public geology information to interpret the geophysical survey results. Following that, they plan to drill key targets beginning in 2017. Hopefully, this discovery will broaden the company’s portfolio and increase exploration potential for uranium and other rare minerals.
It is not the first time CanAlaska has made a major staking announcement. In January 2016, they staked two large blocks totaling 21,445 hectares across the Wollaston domain in northern Saskatchewan. With more staking plans in mind, CanAlaska has high hopes of uncovering valuable resources and great areas of exploration.
