. “Fly Cheap, Stay Packed! Holiday Flights and Booming Hotels Ahead!

It looks like holiday travelers will be getting a break this year with cheaper flights, packed hotel rooms, and an increasing number of Boomers taking advantage of the lower costs. According to analysts at Hopper, airlines are offering cheaper flights this season due to the drop in fuel prices. Flight prices have dropped an average of 6 percent compared to last year. In addition, the U.S. hotel industry is on track for a record-breaking year. The U.S. Travel Association projects that the number of hotel nights booked this summer will increase 3 to 4 percent compared to last year. This is great news for travelers, especially those that plan on taking a summer vacation. Another upside to the increased number of holiday travelers will be the growing number of Boomers on the move. According to a survey conducted by HomeAway, the number of travelers over the age of 55 increased by 6 percent. Boomers enjoying their retirement are taking advantage of the lower flight rates and additional amenities offered by online rental services and hotels. Although hotel occupancy rates are increasing, it will be more costly for Boomers to book hotel rooms since the average rate has increased 5.3 percent compared to last year. Overall, holiday travelers can expect to find cheaper flights, packed hotels, and lots of Boomers who are also looking to get the best bang for their buck. The increase in travel demand has boosted the hotel industry, and in turn, travelers are reaping the benefit from reduced airfares. Although travel expenses are expected to increase for Boomers, they are still able to take advantage of the cheaper flights and additional amenities offered by online rental services. Travelers can capitalize on this season’s upcoming market and grab the best deal possible.
