Gaza’s Darkest Hours: Israel’s Siege Sparks Infant Deaths and Maternal Struggles over Starvation

It is undoubtedly clear that Gaza’s hunger crisis is nowhere near the natural spectrum. It is entirely man-made, a direct consequence of the Israeli blockade. The international community bears witness to the grave breach of human rights, as starvation and malnourishment run rampant, claiming lives of innocent children and inducing desperate struggles for survival in their mothers. In the present daylight of the 21st century, it is gut-wrenching to fathom that newborns should die from sheer lack of food and mothers should fight relentlessly to stave off hunger from their children, yet this is the appalling reality in Gaza. A collaborative global effort is urgently needed to dismantle the siege, restore the flow of supplies, and rebuild Gaza’s broken health system.
