“Rep. Jamaal Bowman Takes Aim at ‘Nazi’ Republicans

It’s no secret that the new, progressive wave of the Democratic Party is putting forth a much more vocal stance on many issues. Representative Jamaal Bowman is part of this movement, and in a recent talking point from his office, he highlighted what many have known for years – that the Republican party is rooted in Nazi ideology. Bowman’s talking point isn’t the first to suggest the Republican party’s Nazi roots, and there are many examples of its influence. The Republican platform in particular is indicative of Nazi eugenics rhetoric, which is a set of beliefs that suggest certain groups of people are superior to others and ought to be protected over others. Bowman’s talking point seeks to point out these connections by citing various Nazi propaganda pieces used by the Republican party. Bowman and other progressive Democrats have a strong disagreement about what the Republican Party stands for, and it is clear that they do not believe that the Republican Party aligns with the values of inclusivity and progress that many Democrats have pushed for in recent years. Furthermore, Bowman implies that the Republican Party’s policies and platforms are often directly opposed to personal freedoms and civil rights. Overall, Representative Jamaal Bowman is pressing the need for members of the Republican party to understand the roots of Nazi Germany and move away from the policies of the past. Bowman’s call for change is an important step in a positive direction, and it is one that needs to be taken seriously. There is no excuse nor justification for the party’s Nazi-like rhetoric, and it is shameful for them to be claiming a platform that fails to recognize the systemic racism and bias in our society. Representative Jamaal Bowman is doing the right thing in calling out the Republican party’s roots in Nazi ideology, and it’s time for them to finally end their destructive rhetoric and practices.
